Day 2 - St Florent - Calvi

Leaving St-Florent, we head up through the unique landscape of the Désert des Agriates, a fascinating rugged territory of unspoilt landscapes, rich fauna, and paradise beaches. Virtually untouched by human development, this protected natural area is one of the island’s must see regions. After a nice descent, we head inland on a narrow road that winds through the quiet hamlet of Novella and climbs up to the Col de San-Colombano (694m). From there, the route follows an old mountain road with great views of the northern coast. After passing Belgodère, we join a scenic road that wraps around the mountainside.  The last climb of the day, the Col de Bataille (1096m) offers impressive views before we descend into Calvi for a relaxing evening visiting the historic citadel.

Day 4 - Porto - Corte

Between Porto and Corte, we’ll navigate Corsica’s rugged backbone, crossing the Col de Vergio at 1,477 meters—the highest road pass on the island. While it’s not as towering as the passes in the Alps or Pyrenees, starting at sea level makes this a worthwhile challenge, although it's not so steep and the landscape is ever-changing, making the effort enjoyable.  Once we reach the top, there's a thrilling descent to look forward to through the stunning Gorge de la Ruda.  The last climb of today is the Col De Sant'antone (993m) before we head to the capital of Corsica, and our destination for the night, Corte.

Day 6 - Bavela - Zonza loop

The Col de Bavella (1218m) serves as a breathtaking grand finale to our week. It stands out as one of Europe's most stunning mountain passes, framed by rugged granite peaks making it a mecca for rock climbers and hikers.  It's so beautiful we'll do it twice!  Firstly from the east, we'll have lunch on the col before descending into the charming mountain town of Zonza and then ascending back up the Col de Bavella from the west.

After a spectacular week in the saddle, there will be a lot of tired legs for sure, but the views and memories along the way will last a lifetime.  All that remains is to savor a celebratory dinner and enjoy a cold beer or two before we say goodbye for now tomorrow. Cheers for unforgettable days!
